Presentation of Krytyka Polityczna Athens: Universitas at Kyiv Biennale

November 1, 2017, 7pm, Institute of Scientiific, Technical and Economic Information "UFO", 180 Antonovycha St., Kyiv

Presentation of “Krytyka Polityczna Athens”: Universitas by Katja Ehrhardt (AthenSYN) and The School of Everything by Joulia Strauss (Avtonomi Akadimia) (Greece/Germany) at Kyiv Biennial, Kyiv

The Athenian edition of Krytyka Polityzcna, edited by Joulia Strauss, grinds seemingly unrelated issues of migration and education to release some Promethean fire, a salute from the world without borders. Krytyka Polityczna Athens is a decolonial remix of knowledge, a book of our European ghetto. It documents projects which will be introduced during the evening:

Katja Ehrhardt will present“Universitas”, an artistic research project, an educational model for a community of teachers and learners that transcends national and sociopolitical borders. Artists from Syria, Greece, and Germany came together with Athenians and migrants in workshops in Athens’ refugee camps and the venues of the Athens Biennale. In the project, we pose the question: What can we all learn from the refugee “crisis”? Universitas was conceived by AthenSYN and Avtonomi Akadimia and organized by AthenSYN in collaboration with the Allianz Cultural Foundation, supported by EU Creative Europe program.

Joulia Strauss will share her experience of practicing educational format as the next step after activist art and as the current phase of our First Global Revolution. After rethinking the base of our exterminationalist occidental “civilization”(Politeia) in the Athenian garden Akadimia Platonos, and after instigating a meeting of politically motivated artistic initiatives for sharing knowledge at the documenta 14, Avtonomi Akadimia will continue the transformation of the educational system of Europe by dispersing its Winter Semester into the UFO of Kyiv International.
